Asian Project Market uncovers selection

SEOUL -- South Korea's Busan Film Festival has revealed 30 projects selected because of its Asian Project Market. Formerly referred to as Pusan Promotion Plan, APM presents a diverse categories of photos, including projects from veterinarians Lin Cheng-seng from Taiwan, Masato Harada from Japan and Nonzee Nimibutr from Thailand. Lin, who won the Silver Bear for the best director in the 2001 Berlinale with "Betelnut Beauty," will show "27 -- Loaf Rocks," a tale in regards to a legendary baker. In "East Wind, Rain," Harada ("Inugami") shows a Japanese family who resided in Hawaii throughout The Second World War, while Nimibutr ("Legend from the Tsunami Warrior") presents psycho-thriller "Distortion." APM includes a slew of projects by approaching Korean company directors. Park Jung-bum, who won Busan fest's New Power Award and Rotterdam Fest's Tiger Award together with his debut feature "The Journals of Musan," will show "Alive," that was among the 2010 Asian Cinema Fund choices Park Chan-kyong, who won the video clip award only at that year's Berlinale with "Evening Fishing," will introduce a horror film entitled "Once the Bell Rings Itself" (working title), according to Korea's traditional shamanism. APM includes other genre projects, a departure in the fest's preference for auteur films previously. Indonesia's The Mo Siblings helm "Murders," a Japan-Indonesia co-created horror film in regards to a killer who exhibits his killings on the web. Korea's veteran action helmer Ryoo Seung-wan introduces an authentic spy film, "Berlin" (working title). Other worldwide co-productions within the selection include Taiwanese helmer Wayne Chang's "Legend of T-Dog," Korean helmer Hur Jin-ho's "Harmful Liaisons" and "Southeast Enthusiasts," an omnibus film by a number of famous Southeast Asian company directors.
